We all feel like we’ve missed out on our fair share of hugs and physical affection these past couple of years because of the coronavirus. “I’ll Love You from Afar” is an ode to all the wonderful and imaginative ways we can still love each other while we’re apart–like using singing whales and writing notes in the stars!
With whimsical illustrations and rhyming text, this book is a sweet reminder for people of all ages that we can love each other no matter how near or far.

A loving missive for anyone missing friends and family.
Beginning with an illustration of a child atop a lighthouse searching the seas through a spyglass and ending with the lighthouse’s beacon of love shining out into the night, this rhyming text sends an optimistic message of patient and enduring love. “Sorry I can’t see you. / You’re oh so far away! / But don’t you worry, / I’m in no hurry, / My love is here to stay.”
Befitting the universal theme, different children and situations are depicted with each stanza, with no clearly identified speaker or recipient maintained consistently throughout. The sentiment is voiced from the shore, the playground, the city. Wherever the speaker is—the depths of the ocean, the limits of space, the isolation of one of the poles —they will miss their loved one.
The illustrations, done in an appropriately calm palette, show a wide range of racial and gender presentations as the scenes change. To a troubled friend across the alley, a kid in a wheelchair offers, “You can blow all your troubles / Into some bubbles, / And I’ll pop them at no extra charge.” The timing suggests yet another Covid-19 picture-book response, but the sentiment is evergreen.

Size does matter in these delightfully tiny tales populated with narcoleptic drivers, bickering bakers, suspicious spouses and other memorable characters.
Full of dark humour, intrigue and absurdity, this collection of slightly sinister (and occasionally sweet) stories delivers a bite-size reading experience to satisfy any literary craving.

A book that will definitely become part of my top ten list. My attention was caught right at the beginning and couldn’t drop it until I read it all. The twist in every story brightened up my day with laughs to last for a while.

I devoured this book in one sitting. It's like eating a box of chocolates. Each very short story is clever, well written, kooky and funny and leave thoughts lingering long after reading.

This microfiction collection was brilliantly written and a pleasure to read! I'm already thinking of ways I can incorporate it into a lesson to demonstrate to my students that imaginative writing needn't be lengthy or a full blown narrative. Well done Racha!

It sends a loud and clear message to our children that they have to DREAM BIG, and that they can be whatever they want to be!! Their options aren't only your typical professions: teacher, artist or doctor!! Instead, there are many unique and futuristic professions that many of our children do not read about in Arabic, like being an astronaut, a gamer or even a beekeeper!

What an engaging and visually distinctive book! My niece and nephew loved it. The big, bold illustrations complement a simple and informative text that even had me learning new things about how animals move. The choices of animals are interesting, too, and not your typical run-of-the-mill. A fun and educational read. I highly recommend it!
- Rami, Amazon Review
What a wonderful book! Super informative and really fun, the book made my daughter (and myself!) think about how animals can move about in different ways. Even though the book is aimed for older kids my 3 year old thoroughly enjoyed it, and learned loads of new things too. Definitely on our list of everyday reads.
